Sorry folks, the week went by faster than usual and I looked at my boss to realize it was already Friday. We’ve got shadows under our eyes, a perpetual hold on our coffee mugs and punny jokes. :p Huh? What you say? Oh, the post. Yeah yeah getting there.
Another thing I would like to mention before the events listing, is meetups. I am always getting notifications about meetups through Myspace and Yahoo! Groups for Deaf/ASL users in Sacramento. What about Yuba-Sutter areas? I am sure there are folks who would like to do Deaf/ASL meetups around here once a month in addition to the monthly Deaf Club Pizza meetups at Pizza Hut on Colusa Hwy next to Joann’s Fabric store. I think it’d be fun for kids too. Let me know. What? Am I on Myspace? Yes, I am so we can coordinate meetups and spread the word. I’ve got several deafies on my list.
Events:
This is the Halloween Weekend, so most will be either partying or going to Deaf Expo ‘07. Refer to the last Grapevine for other events.
Deaf Expo ‘07 is this Saturday. Kimberly Dethlefsen (of Marysville NorCal Center on Deafness) is heading down to Deaf Expo ‘07 with Susan Stacy. Say hello to them.
There has been some adjustments and announcements regarding Deaf Expo in Pleasanton and the folks from Deaf Expo ‘07 are asking to spread the word:

Also at Deaf Expo ‘07 is a Camp Grizzly booth. They have applications for Campers and Staff for 2008. Deaf-Hope will also be there with a Quilting. It is Deaf-Hope’s 2nd annual community quilting bee in which quilts will be sold to raise money for Deaf-Hope, a not for profit organization that helps battered Deaf women and children.
In E-mail box:
Casper, a 4 month old white American Pit Bull Terrier who is deaf. He is neutered, vaccinated (3 sets of distemper, and micro-chipped. He is very good with children and other dogs. He is a bit rough for cats right now. He needs to be moved by this weekend as this is very urgent. Please contact
Tracy Caccavella if you can adopt him, foster him or know of any rescue that can even take him even on a temporary basis. Please be mindful that most rescues are full. It’s adoption or foster that will make a room for him.

There is an official web site for it at Sidekick Web site (it’s in Flash)
There is a contest on Sidekick’s Myspace page for the best video showing how your Sidekick connects you to life. If you’re a Sidekick and Myspace addict, it’s perfect for you! You have until November 12 to participate.
On their Sidekick Wiki page, there is another contest to win a Sidekick LX. You have until November 6 to enroll in the sweepstakes.
On a side note, I noticed that on the day the LX came out, my current favorite skin company, My Gel Skinhad skins all ready for the LX, as seen on their home page.
Have a good weekend.
